Sending
flowers has always been a way for us to express our feelings, whether it be appreciation,
sympathy, celebration, love, empathy, etc. Making these moments last longer through
flowers is easy in three simple steps.
1. Always use clean vases or containers. Add floral preservative, included with
your flowers or obtained from Nations Florist, to the cool vase water. Change
the water and preservative every two to three days.
2. Any leaves which will be underwater must be removed. Immersed leaves will rot
and cause bacteria growth, reducing the life of the flowers.
3. Recut each stem under water at an angle using sharp scissors or a knife. This
should eliminate air bubbles or air pockets in from forming in the stems, which
prevents the water from being absorbed up into the flowers. Repeat this proceedure
every time you change the water. |
